I wanted to create a cosy, welcoming space with a boho lifestyle backdrop. A place where you can come to relax, shut off from the world, forget the to do list, perhaps escape the chaos and cleaning at home; to relax and simply be. I know sometimes the thought of having someone step into your home can be daunting, so I’ve created a cosy home from home newborn photography studio in my beautiful, victorian house. Come to me, I’ll make the tea, you can relax whilst I capture you all in this precious season of your lives.

STUDIO LIGHT V NATURAL LIGHT NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO?

Choosing the right type of setting for your newborn photography session is so important, there’s no right or wrong it’s down to personal preference. In my experience, a studio lit newborn photography studio can sometimes feel too clinical, large studio lighting can also be daunting particularly for small children. As a natural light newborn photographer, I prefer to use the beautiful ambient natural light provided by the sun. I have made my newborn photography studio a cosy home from home space, to ensure your session feels warm and homely, giving your images that same feel and finish. I personally prefer not to use flash or artificial lights in my work.

WHERE IS MY NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO?

My newborn photography studio is located in Biggleswade, on the outskirts of Baldock, Hertfordshire. I have welcomed mothers and their babies from Cambridge, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and London. We’re located on the Peterborough line, 30minute fast train then a 10min walk from the station. We’re just a 5min walk into town which has some lovely independent coffee shops, vegan cafes and then a 5 minute drive from a retail park where you can grab a coffee in M&S after our time together. There is parking on our driveway, upon booking you’ll receive the newborn studio address.

WHAT TO BRING TO YOUR NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION

I have tried to think of everything when creating my newborn photography studio, so that you don’t have to bring everything & the kitchen sink. When you have a baby, you already feel like you’re travelling heavy. I’ll bake us some nourishing goodies, with an array of herbal teas, coffee and sweet treats to enjoy as we go. I’d recommend bringing your baby into my home in their car seat, bring your baby bag with supplies : nappies, wipes, muslins, spare sets of cosy sleep suits. Bring postpartum supplies for you, I will have spares in the bathroom too should you need them. Travel to me in your comfies, anything neutral coloured works well in my space if you don’t fancy changing : browns, creams, whites, dusty pinks. You are welcome to wear what you’re comfy in, you’re also so welcome to try on some of my beautiful breastfeeding & c-section friendly dresses if you’d prefer to wear a dress. You’ll have a small beautiful selection of heirloom hand knitted newborn outfits for your little one, you’re also welcome to bring something for them to wear. Neutral coloured toys for smaller children to play with.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION

Here at Kim Rose Photography, newborn photography sessions are very gentle and relaxed; we take your newborn baby’s lead and pause when they need settling, feeding and changing. My photography style is natural, storytelling, unposed with lifestyle feel; giving you timeless memories of your perfect newborn bubble. We’ll spend some time capturing their teeny tiny newborn baby details : toes, newborn fluff, tiny fingers. And then we’ll capture an array of beautiful moments with you all together and separately. Whilst sessions have a structure, the unravelling is organic and true to you all.

WHAT’S THE NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO LIKE?

My newborn studio is the perfect backdrop for beautiful and timeless maternity, newborn baby and motherhood photography sessions. Draped in neutral linen and with south facing windows, the natural light is just so incredibly special in here. There is a gorgeous white sofa bed, a newborn posing beanbag and it’s filled with gorgeous dried flowers and wall hangings. If you’re thinking of capturing your pregnancy, newborn baby or your journey in motherhood at any stage, my studio sessions start from £395. Sessions take place on a Tuesday, Thursday and Friday normally starting around 10.30 / 11am and will last about an hour - 90mins; these sessions book months in advance so please reach out if you’d like to check my diary availability.
