During the lockdowns I spent time creating pregnancy self portraits for Beth in utero & Chloe by my side. When Beth joined us earthside, I vowed to continue documenting our journey as regularly as I could in a space of our own in our home; this is how my home studio in Biggleswade Bedfordshire was born. The more I documented us & shared our portraits during lockdowns, the more it became clear these images spoke to so many. What originally began as a pop-up motherhood studio has become a firm fixture in a cosy room in our home & a firm favourite offering. When I first began to offer them, mini days sold out within minutes of sessions being released; it was clear to me that the mothers in my local community needed this space. A place to come & be with their children, to shut off from the world & connect, to document milestones, a journey, to celebrate their kinship. I’m a huge advocate in normalising postpartum body imagery, and will always encourage women to celebrate their bodies during their sessions, in whatever way feels comfortable & true to them.

I had the honour of capturing Susan during her pregnancy, she was one of my very first clients in the studio & is a dear friend of mine; our story of working together first began when I did some brand photography for her House O’Fellows embroidery business. Their motherhood session was a Christmas gift from family, a chance for Susan & Alberto to celebrate their breastfeeding journey, their love & deep primal connection towards one another.
